Deryck was supposed to get off work at 9:00 and now it's 9:37 and he has still not called, which means he's still working. I'm sure Best Buy is a fantastic corporation but I WILL NOT endorse it.
...well, is there such a thing as a fantastic corporation? That's a prime example of an oxymoron, though I disapprove of the word "oxymoron" because it's overused. Not half as badly as "random". That word should be eradicated from planet earth, along with "lol". I used to feel the same way about "woot" but the word has grown on me because it has such a funny sound. I think of it as what all the cool owls say, such as Hedwig and Pigwidgeon.
40 minutes late.
I had a rotten day at work today. Having said that, I must compare working for an independently-owned, completely unique business versus working for a store owned by a huge corporation who sends impersonal memos about rules and The Bottom Line, etc. While working for K (my boss) is erratic, unpredictable and frustrating, and sometimes makes me want to set things on fire, the pros really do outweigh the cons.
For example: at Churchill's, my coworkers understand that I am good at English and grammar, and that I have my share of artistic talent, etc. K regularly enlists my help on the "art" projects at Churchill's, such as redesigning the private party room. I am frequently called upon to make signs, banners, posters, decorations, and even the occasional paper costume for our mascot.
Speaking of mascots. In my next post I'll tell you about ours and how he came about.
As I write this (47 minutes past 9:00), the Cincinnati Reds either just won the game or just hit a home run, because I can hear the fireworks from the stadium at the riverfront.
This has gone on long enough.
Love, Anna
